Meditation for a Peaceful Mind This program is open to everyone, either to attend all classes orjust drop in when you choose. Although the classes are presented in several mini-series you can benefit from attending any of them, so just attend when you can. Dress is informal but respectful. If you wish you can stand as the teacher enters. Each class begins with a relaxing meditation followed by a Dharma talk by the teacher , Gen Tilopa who will explain an aspect of Buddhist teaching on how to develop your own mind and become a better person. This is followed by a question and answer session and/or discussion, and concludes with a meditation based on the topic of the teaching. There are texts written by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso that will deepen your understanding of each topic in the program.

Feb 6-13 Exploring the Self, who am I, what am I, creating your self, how does the self exist? the problems of self, overcoming the problems of focusing on self, self-cherishing as the source of all problems, what is self-improvement?, becoming selfless Feb 20-27 Exploring Relationships I. If Love Conquers All, What is Love? Who should I love? How should I love? Why should I love? When should I love? How much should I love? Obstacles to love: anger, jealousy, pride, attachment. Meditations on love. Mar 5-26 Exploring Relationships II; self & other, what and how should I give to others? How should I behave towards others? How should I react to harm and difficulty? Apr 2-23 Dealing with Anger. The costs and disadvantages of anger, the benefits & practice of patience, using wisdom and compassion to overcome anger. Apr 30-May 14 Faith, Freedom and Spirituality; the nature and good qualities of faith. Faith in what? What is freedom, and how is it obtained? How faith leads to freedom and peace. Jun 4-18, The Kadampa Buddhist Way of Life: Atisha's Advice and Je Tsongkhapa's Principal Aspects of the Path . The cost of each class is $10. Attend 4 classes for $30.
