Vow Ceremony

Thinking about taking the next step in your Dharma study?
Hoping to make a commitment to establish a firm practice?
Then join us this Friday, May 28th @ 7pm at the Kosala Center, where we will be having a special vow ceremony! Gen Tilopa will guide us by offering two different vows:

1. Refuge Vows: Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha are known as the Three Jewels. When we go for refuge to the Three Jewels we enter into the Buddhist family. So by taking Refuge vows, we are reconizing that Buddha is the source of all teachings and blessings, Dharma is the realization of Buddha’s teachings, and Sangha is the pure Dharma practitioners who help us with our spiritual practice.

2. Bodhisattva Vows:
Bodhisattva vows are taken with the motivation of bodhichitta – a heartfelt wish to become enlightened to be able to benefit all living beings. The Bodhisattva vows are explained in detail in the book The Bodhisattva Vow.

Once received, they can be retaken repeatedly. Maintaining the Bodhisattva vows is the basis of the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life, which all Kadampas strive to follow.
